Epsom is about 7.6 miles from our Effingham yard, and Ewell a few minutes further. The truck mixes the concrete on your site, so you can order from 1m³ and pay only for what's poured.
Yes, Surex Concrete delivers to Epsom and Ewell. That covers KT17, KT18 and KT19, from Tattenham Corner and Langley Vale up to Stoneleigh, with volumetric concrete mixed on your site and a line pump when the truck can't get close.
Getting to Epsom
The A24 runs through the borough and carries on as the bypass between Epsom and Ewell, with the A240 Kingston Road joining it. Without traffic Epsom is about 19 minutes from our yard and Ewell about 23.
The one week to plan around is the Derby Festival at Epsom Downs in early June. The crowds are huge, and the Jockey Club only publishes road closures shortly before the meeting. If your pour is near the racecourse, in Tattenham Corner or Langley Vale, and falls in late May or early June, ring us before you fix the date.
Trade deliveries mostly go to the Longmead and Kiln Lane industrial estates, between the B284 Hook Road and the A24 north of the town centre. Both are an easy run off the main road.
Pouring in Epsom
Epsom and Ewell both grew up on a spring line. To the south and east is the chalk of the North Downs. The town centre, the north and the west sit on London Clay. The Hogsmill still rises from a chalk spring beside Bourne Hall in Ewell, and Epsom salts are named after the town's mineral springs. So a pour on the Downs side and one in West Ewell can be on very different ground.
Much of Ewell was built in the 1930s, and East Ewell is mostly semi detached houses from that decade, often with shared drives and tight side access. Ewell Downs has larger detached houses on private roads. In Epsom, the 2011 census found Woodcote mostly detached and Court mostly semis, terraces and flats.
West of the town is the old Epsom hospital cluster: Horton, Long Grove, Manor, St Ebba's and West Park. Most of it has been turned into housing since the 1990s, and it's now a conservation area in its own right.
Access and permissions
Epsom and Ewell has 21 conservation areas, so it's worth a quick check before you book a driveway.
Epsom Town Centre, Ewell Village, Stamford Green, Woodcote, Chalk Lane and the Hospital Cluster are among the 21. Some carry Article 4 directions, which can bring hard surfacing under planning control.
A new front driveway over 5m² needs permission unless it drains to a lawn or border. A dropped kerb is a Surrey County Council licence with a £383 application fee and a site visit within 20 working days.
The Environment Agency's River Hogsmill at Ewell flood warning area covers Ewell, Stoneleigh and the Horton Stream at West Ewell. Agree slab levels with your builder if you're close to it.
Guide figures only. Building control, your engineer or your groundworker sets the final grade and depth. Tell us what they've specified and we'll batch it on site. Concrete grades explained.
Measure the pour, enter it below, then call us with the figure. A rough estimate is enough - we batch to what the job takes.
Measure the area you're filling - a slab, footing, trench or base. Mixed units are fine.

Both. The Downs to the south and east are chalk, while the town centre, the north and much of Ewell are London Clay. Clay usually means deeper footings, and your building control officer will set the depth.
