Our Effingham yard is about nine miles from Guildford along the A246. The truck mixes the concrete when it arrives, so you can order from 1m³ and you only pay for what goes in the ground.
Yes, Surex Concrete delivers to Guildford. We cover the whole town and the villages round it, from Merrow and Burpham in GU1 and GU4 to Fairlands in GU3, with volumetric concrete mixed on your site and concrete pump hire where the truck can't get close.
Getting to Guildford
The A246 runs from Effingham through West Clandon and Merrow into Guildford, so most GU1 and GU4 addresses are one road from our yard. Without traffic that's about 19 minutes. Merrow and Burpham are the first places we reach on the way in.
The town centre is harder. It runs on a one way system and has a controlled parking zone. If the truck has to stand in a bay, the suspension is booked through Surrey County Council, not the borough, so leave time for that before the pour.
Villages round the edge, such as Shere, Ripley, East Clandon and Jacobs Well, are all inside our normal area. Tell us which road the truck will stop on when you ring.
Pouring in Guildford
Guildford sits where the North Downs chalk meets a band of Gault Clay along the foot of the Downs and the Hog's Back, with Lower Greensand underneath other parts of the town. Two sites a mile apart can need very different footings. Your groundworker or building control officer sets the depth. We batch whatever volume that comes to, and extra is no problem if the trench goes deeper than planned.
The housing is just as mixed. Charlotteville, started in 1862, and the terraces in Stoke have narrow fronts and gardens that are often only reachable through the house. Onslow Village, around 600 homes built as a garden estate after the First World War, and the 1920s Westborough estate are mostly interwar semis. Merrow, Burpham and Pewley Hill have more of the larger detached houses.
On the trade side we supply groundworkers and builders across the borough. There will be plenty of that work at Weyside Urban Village, the council's scheme to build around 1,550 homes on the old Slyfield industrial estate by about 2035.
Access and permissions
Guildford has 13 conservation areas and its town centre sits next to the River Wey. Some jobs need a phone call to the council before they need a phone call to us.
Charlotteville and Warren Road, Onslow Village, Bridge Street and the Town Centre are among the 13. Where an Article 4 direction applies, even a new drive or patio can need planning permission.
Across England, an impermeable front driveway over 5m² needs planning permission unless the water drains onto a lawn or border. A dropped kerb is a separate Surrey County Council licence, and the site visit alone can take up to 20 working days.
More than 160 properties flooded in Guildford in 2013 and 2014. If you're building near the river, agree the slab level with your designer first. We can then batch a mix with waterproofing admixture if it's specified.
Guide figures only. Your engineer, groundworker or building control has the final say. Tell us what they've specified and we'll batch it, fibres and admixtures included. Concrete grades explained.
Measure the pour, enter it below, then call us with the figure. A rough estimate is enough - we batch to what the job takes.
Measure the area you're filling - a slab, footing, trench or base. Mixed units are fine.

Fill in all three dimensions to see the volume. We include a 5% wastage allowance.
Minimum delivery of 1m³ not met. We'll still quote 1m³ for the pour. Call 0800 669 6500 if you're unsure.
Tell us the volume and postcode and we'll confirm the right mix, the price and a delivery slot.
Surex Concrete delivers volumetric concrete to every Guildford postcode, GU1 to GU4, from its yard in Effingham, about 9 miles away on the A246. The concrete is mixed on your site, so you can order from 1m³ and pay only for what you use.
About 19 minutes from our yard without traffic. Same or next day delivery is normally available, with a two hour arrival window agreed when you book.
Yes. When the truck can't reach the pour, a line pump runs hose from the road up to about 100 metres, through a hallway, a side passage or over a wall. That's common in Stoke and Charlotteville, where many back gardens have no side access.
For a new front driveway over 5m², yes, unless rainwater runs off onto a lawn or border. Inside a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, even smaller hard surfacing can need permission, so check with Guildford Borough Council first.
Most domestic strip and trench footings use C20/25 or C25/30. On Gault Clay, or near trees, footings often go deeper than planned, so we batch on the day to the volume the trench actually takes.
We deliver from 1m³. Orders under 3m³ carry a part load charge, and at 3m³ or more there isn't one.
Give us the postcode, a rough volume and how the truck gets in. We'll confirm the grade, the price and a delivery slot on the call.
