Volumetric concrete for Horsham, Roffey, Broadbridge Heath and the new Mowbray estate. The truck carries everything dry and mixes on site, so the concrete is fresh after the run down the A24.
Yes, Surex Concrete delivers to Horsham, RH12 and RH13, including Roffey, Holbrook, Broadbridge Heath and North Horsham. It's near the edge of our area, so book ahead where you can.
Getting to Horsham
Horsham is about 38 minutes from our yard, down the A24 through Dorking and Warnham. The A24 and A264 share the bypass round the town, and the northern bypass dates from 1989. With a drum mixer, that's a long time for concrete to sit in the drum. A volumetric truck carries the materials dry and only mixes when it's on your site.
West of town, West Sussex County Council rebuilt the roundabouts at Broadbridge Heath between 2019 and 2021 to cope with new housing. Give us the full address and we'll plan the approach.
Pouring in Horsham
Horsham sits on Weald Clay, and the British Geological Survey notes the clay gets noticeably thicker west of the town. It shrinks and swells with the seasons, so footings near trees often go deeper than planned. The clay also holds bands of Horsham Stone, the flaggy sandstone once quarried at Tower Hill for roofs and paving, so a dig can hit hard layers in soft ground.
The biggest building site is North Horsham, known as Mowbray: 2,750 homes north of the A264 with outline permission from 2017, being built in phases with shops, a school campus and a business park. Broadbridge Heath to the west is growing too.
For trade customers, Foundry Lane north east of the centre and Nowhurst Business Park off the A281 are the main commercial sites.
Access and permissions
Horsham splits its rules between the district and county councils.
Horsham has a controlled parking zone. Horsham District Council handles bay suspensions, and if materials or a skip sit in the bay you also need a West Sussex County Council licence.
The Causeway, with its 17th to 19th century houses and plane trees, and the Carfax are in the town centre conservation area. Check with the district council before external works there.
The Environment Agency's Horsham on the River Arun flood warning area covers Millbay Lane, Tanbridge Park, Arunside and Ridgehurst Drive. Near the river, agree slab levels first.
Guide figures only. On clay the engineer or building control officer sets the footing depth. Give us their spec and we'll batch it on site. Concrete grades explained.
Measure the pour, enter it below, then call us with the figure. A rough estimate is enough - we batch to what the job takes.
Measure the area you're filling - a slab, footing, trench or base. Mixed units are fine.

Yes. Surex Concrete delivers volumetric concrete to Horsham, RH12 and RH13, from its yard in Effingham about 38 minutes away down the A24. The truck mixes on site, so the concrete is fresh when it's poured.
Mostly Weald Clay, which is thicker west of the town, with bands of harder Horsham Stone in places. Clay moves with the seasons, so your building control officer may ask for deeper footings, especially near trees.
Yes. North Horsham and Broadbridge Heath are both in our Horsham area, and we can supply builders and groundworkers there from 1m³ upwards.
Only if the truck has to stand in a controlled bay. Horsham District Council handles bay suspensions, and a West Sussex County Council licence is also needed if materials sit in the bay.
