Volumetric concrete for Chipstead, Hooley and the Chipstead Valley, about 28 minutes from our Effingham yard. Mixed on site from 1m³, with a line pump for long drives and back gardens.
Yes, Surex Concrete delivers to Chipstead and Hooley in CR5. It's a village of big detached houses on narrow lanes, and on site mixing plus a line pump suits that well.
Getting to Chipstead
Chipstead is about 28 minutes from our yard, close to the M25, A217 and A23 but not on any of them. The village has no single centre, just a small parade by the station, and no bus runs through it.
The residents' association describes the place well: mature trees and hedges, open fields, narrow winding lanes and no street lighting. That's lovely to live with and awkward for a lorry. Tell us the lane and where the truck can pull in, and if the drive is long or the lane too tight, we'll pump from the nearest safe spot.
Pouring in Chipstead
Chipstead is far more detached than the rest of the borough. The 2011 census put it at 66% detached houses, against 28% across Reigate and Banstead, with about 1,200 homes in the village itself. Driveways, extensions, garages and outbuildings are the usual pours.
The houses spread up the slopes of Chipstead Valley, a dry chalk valley in the North Downs. Dry most of the time, anyway. The Chipstead Valley bourne runs underground and comes to the surface after long heavy rain. In the winter of 2013 to 2014 it flooded at Hogden Bottom, at Pigeonhouse Farm in Mugswell and briefly in Outwood Lane by Station Parade. Surrey County Council built a drainage lagoon at Station Parade in 2017 to deal with it.
If you're near the valley floor, Outwood Lane, Station Parade or Lower Park Road, get the sub-base and drainage right before you pour. Higher up, the chalk drains well.
Access and permissions
Chipstead has more protected ground than most villages its size.
Elmore Road (1980, extended 1990), High Road (1990) and Walpole Avenue and Starrock Green (March 2024), the last for its Arts and Crafts houses and gardens. Most in the borough carry Article 4 directions.
Six weeks' notice is needed before cutting back trees in a conservation area. Hedges and verges on the lanes matter to residents, so we keep the truck and pump lines off them.
Chipstead Downs is an SSSI, Shabden Park is a 103 hectare Surrey County Council nature reserve, and parts of the parish are in or next to the Surrey Hills National Landscape.
Guide figures only. Building control, your engineer or your groundworker sets the final grade and depth. Tell us what they've specified and we'll batch it on site. Concrete grades explained.
Measure the pour, enter it below, then call us with the figure. A rough estimate is enough - we batch to what the job takes.
Measure the area you're filling - a slab, footing, trench or base. Mixed units are fine.

Surex Concrete delivers volumetric concrete to Chipstead and Hooley from its yard in Effingham, about 28 minutes away. The truck mixes on site, so you can order from 1m³ and pay only for what you use.
Usually, but many lanes are narrow and unlit. Tell us the lane when you book. If the truck can't get close, a line pump reaches up to about 100 metres from where it can safely stand.
Sometimes. The Chipstead Valley bourne surfaces after long heavy rain, and in 2013 to 2014 it flooded at Hogden Bottom, Mugswell and Outwood Lane. Plots near the valley floor need good drainage under any slab.
Elmore Road, High Road, and Walpole Avenue and Starrock Green, designated in March 2024. Check with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council before external works in any of them.
